Ian Young : Director of Golf

Following a successful amateur career Ian turned professional in 1982. He played full time on the European Tour until 1989 and then played Challenge Tour until 1995. As a professional was 5th in the Portugeuse Open, won both the Scottish PGA Championship at Dalmahoy and the Scottish Matchplay championship at North Berwick.  Ian has won over 40 Pro Ams with numerous course records.
In 1997 Ian took ownership of the Braid Hills Golf Centre with the aim of creating one of Scotlands finest Teaching Establishments. PGA qualified since 1989 he coaches many of the countries top golfers and has used his experience to help young players of the Lothian Golf Association, Herriot Watt University and Midlothian Girls.

Colin Brooks

 Colin Brooks : Head of Instruction

 

Colin is a PGA professional who teaches at the Braid Hills Golf Centre in Edinburgh. He has over 20 years experience coaching players of all abilities from complete beginners to professionals playing on the European Tour.

Prior to becoming a coach he competed at the highest level, the highlights being when he won the Scottish Amateur Championship and twice as a professional on the European Challenge Tour. He also played full time on the European Tour.

Ranked amongst the Top 100 coaches in the country by Golf World magazine he uses the knowledge gained from his years teaching and playing to work on all aspects of a players game.

He uses the latest Trackman and Gasp Video technology to help work on the full swing. Colin also specialises in giving short game and putting lessons throughout the year.

Whatever standard of player you are Colin will tailor the lesson to your own particular needs and experience and help you towards achieving your goals.

Paul Malone

  Paul Malone : PGA Teaching Professional

Paul turned Professional in 1996. After 4 years as an assistant at Kingsknowe Golf Club he joined the Braid Hills in 2000. As a player Paul has tasted victory on the Tartan Tour and still competes regularly in Scotland.
PGA qualified since 2000 he works with players of all abilities from beginners to the elite golfers of Heriot Watt University, the Lothian Golf Association and Midlothian Girls.

Paul Mckechnie : PGA Teaching Professional
 

Paul turned professional in 2000 following a successful amateur career where he represent Scotland at Boys, Youths and Mens level. He initially played on the Europro Tour where he won three times including the Tour Championship and the Order of Merit in 2002. Subsequently he played on the Challenge tour and a handful of European Tour events where he played with the likes of former world number one's Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy. Paul still very much competes on a full time basis and has some great ideas on the golf swing and effective practice. He enjoys coaching and  bringing on players of all levels.

After enjoying successful careers on tour golf our in house professionals are lending you their skill and expertise. Fully qualified with all the relevant accreditations our team offer golf lessons to assist any ability and age group.
